The White’s Journey Begins
Richard and Suzie White are the first Australians to take on Eyachts European Delivery on their own Sealine C430, White Spirit.
The Sealine was in Mallorca awaiting their arrival all they had left to do was fly over…
The Whites flew from Australia to the UK to relax after the long flight and see Richard’s family. They stayed in Clivedon where they did some sightseeing and visited Eton & Windsor Castle and then travelled to Bath, staying at the Royal Crescent.
Arriving in Mallorca
Off to Alcudia Bay
After fueling up, they left Palma for Alcudia Bay, leaving at 10:30 a.m as the weather was ideal. After travelling 4 hours up the west coast arriving into Alcudia Bay, they took instructions on where to go. Aside from being a bit daunting as the first berthing, Birgit was there to take our stern ropes and the Marinero came to help with the bow rope. That night they drove back to Mallorca and the very next morning, piled all the suitcases into the van and proceeded to unpack the 11 boxes, suitcases and buy groceries. The next day they purchased their electrical appliances and other bits and bobs, including duvets for the 2 cabins. By that night, they were well and truly settled and cooked their first meal of salmon, broccoli & salad with a lovely bottle of Rose wine.
They spent the following days sampling the culinary delights and indulgung in the culture, enjoying the cuisine and browsing the old town.
Taking out the Sealine C430
They took the boat out for their first afternoon at anchor to a beach called Platja de Coll Baix, half an hour by boat from the Port of Alcudia followed by dinner on the stern on a perfectly still evening. Magnifico!
“We had a lovely trip to this beach which took about 1/2 hour to get there at 6+ knots. It was a lovely warm afternoon so we were going slowly to really enjoy the trip. I drove the boat around & on leaving was at the helm taking the anchor up at for the first time! We got into our own back at Alcudiama Marina and had our first dinner on the stern to a stunning, calm evening,” Suzie explained.
“We love the boat! I love the boat! It’s so roomy, the galley is great with little pockets for storage. As I have only catered for 6 people, it’s perfect! The fridge & freezer are both good sizes & the outdoor sitting & sunbathing space is more than we’ve had even on bigger boats & very very comfortable. A great quirk is that you can plug your iPhone or social media device into a light fitting to charge them & these are in the saloon & all the cabins. The heads have bucket loads of space & the toilet works brilliantly. More to come but so thrilled with it,” told Suzie.
Going inland they explored Es Corte Vell, Bunyola, a gorgeous little inland hotel with views of the Tramontana mountains. Then they joined in on the fun one of the most popular 4 day festivals, Es Firó in Sóller, on the northwest coast of Mallorca. A celebration of the defence by the local residents against Moorish invaders in May 1561.
The Whites say goodbye (only for a little bit) to explore outside Spain and only Bavaria, Salzburg and all over Croatia.
