NEO Review

The Eyachts team just returned from Dusseldorf Boat show for the World debut of the NEW-NEO Hard Top, Coupe and now OPEN with optional T-Top.

Peter, Dan and Rowan all spent plenty of time on board, really getting to know these revolutionary new boats to give you a real review of what they are like…

The NEO range was the talk of what is now the largest European boat show. The French and German production companies spent a lot of time on board the NEO range congratulating the relatively new owner of Greenline for this fresh concept.

Stepping on board the NEO it is very hard to believe that you are standing on a 35ft boat. – Peter Hrones

She is SPACIOUS, OPEN and uncluttered with plenty of entertaining appeal, everything you need at hand with great dining area, seating and relaxing areas. This is due to the unique NEO design concept, the interior is spread and covers nearly the whole beam of the boat providing nearly 3.3 metres of internal space, you would need to normally buy a 45 footer to get this.

There is a clever side walk through windscreen allowing safe and easy access to the bow and giving the ultimate cross flow of air through the cabin when anchored or driving slowly up the river. The windscreen has a good size eyebrow eliminating the direct sun into the cabin.

The designers of the NEO, the well known J&J brothers, also have a patent pending on a fantastic platform especially designed for the new NEO, with the ability to hold 350kgs, that does three things. Firstly a swim platform that can be lowered into the water, secondly when lowered into the water it acts as a stabiliser when you are anchored in the bay and finally when you are packing up for the day you trim your engines out of the water and the platform rises at the same time so the legs of the engines are out of the water offering minimal maintenance and issues for many years to come. It has many other features such as easy boarding for older people swimming and is safety barrier for kids keeping them and ropes away from the engines if you’re towing a donut, wakeboard or sea bob etc.

The NEO also stands for ENTERTAINMENT it has seating for 10 to 12 guests in the cockpit and another half dozen in the bow seating area. Down below you have a scissor bed (twin singles) or island bed, a dining table/bed option and separate toilet with full headroom and sink/shower.

Peters favourite feature is the island galley, it’s the focal point of the boat for the chef/owner and it just screams modern, luxury. With electric teppanyaki grill BBQ, sink and just enough bench space either side with fold out Corian bench tops. Another great feature is the 65-litre drawer fridge conveniently placed on the island, nice and handy for the food, plus a separate drinks fridge drawer under the seats. You can stand on either side of the island galley allowing you to socialise with your guests while preparing lunch and best of all, out of the direct sunlight while not disturbing others that are swimming off the stern.

A unique feature of the NEO is the 4 x 300watt solar panels offering a total of 1.2kW of solar on the Hard Top and Coupe roof recessed and vented. This is something intrinsic to the Greenline design from the very first line drawing of each Greenline model.  This amount of solar means you can leave your main fridge on even if the boat is on a swing mooring and not plugged in.

The NEO comes standard with plenty of house power to run 3 fridges, BBQ and a small 6000 to 16000 BTU air conditioner and the Greenline solar management system is the perfect charging companion, instead of the smelly, noisy generator when at anchor in a quiet bay. When underway you have the benefit of twin 115amp/h alternators on the new V8 -300hp engines to also help recharge.

The NEO is a NEW ERA in boating and a real game changer. NEO offers low maintenance and very low running costs, it’s fun & affordable in a the ever-growing day boats sector that are perfect for entertaining and are designed perfectly for Australian waters.- Peter Hrones

The first NEO Hard Top is debuting at Sanctuary Cove Boat show in May this year and the Coupe will be ready in time for Sydney Boat show in July/August.

I spent 3 days walking around Dusseldorf Boat Show looking at every boat on the market and even though I have a biased opinion I really feel Greenline have hit the nail on the head and uniquely built a boat that doesn’t exist yet with the Greenline NEO. To be able to offer 3 different models that can accommodate almost every genre of boater, this is the perfect all round boat.

Everything is built to a very high quality, the boat is modern yet classily designed and comfortable in every area.  The features I personally love is of course the swim platform that works perfectly with outboards, something not traditionally seen. A cockpit that is designed for social entertaining and enjoyment. Plus if going a hardtop or coupe, utilizing Australia’s sun with 1.2kw of solar discreetly installed on the roof makes perfect sense.

There are many different boats out there in this size range, but what new boat offers more than the Greenline NEO, the perfect day/overnight boat! Step aboard and see for yourself at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show.- Rowan McMahon
