The morning began at the dock with an Axopar 38 Cross Cabin, a family ready for a day of exploring and a pair of the new lightweight Axopar x Flite AIR boards onboard.
Destination: Tangalooma.
As we made our way out into Moreton Bay, the conditions just kept getting better. The wind was light, the water was calm, and before long the Axopar 38 was powering towards Moreton Island across an almost impossibly blue bay.
It was the kind of crossing that reminds you the journey doesn’t have to be the part you endure before the adventure begins.

On our day, however, Moreton Bay was showing us its softer side.
With calm water ahead, we could simply settle in and enjoy what the 38 could do.
Arriving by Boat at Tangalooma
Before long, the outline of Moreton Island appeared ahead and the Tangalooma Wrecks came into view.

We dropped anchor alongside the wrecks and moments later a friendly turtle joined to say hi, one of the many precious moments to be enjoyed on Island days.
The family spread out onboard, lunch came out and for a while there was nothing more complicated to do than look across the water and decide what came next.
Then we unpacked the Fliteboards.

With the wrecks behind us and unusually calm water ahead, there could hardly have been a better place to bring out the boards.
One by one, everyone had a turn.
The Axopar sat at anchor while the family took the Flite AIRs out across the water, carving around the bay and returning to the boat between rides.
It demonstrated exactly why the combination works.

Snorkelling the Tangalooma Wrecks

Arriving on your own boat gives you the freedom to build snorkelling at the Tangalooma Wrecks into a much bigger day on the water.
After Fliteboarding, we swapped boards for snorkels and headed beneath the surface to explore the wrecks from a completely different perspective.

From Boat to Beach
Eventually, it was time to head ashore to touch the sand.
We packed some beverages and everything we needed into the beach boat and made the short run onto the sand.
The shoes came off, the picnic came out and the Axopar was anchored almost on the shore.

By late afternoon, we headed back onboard the Axopar.
Somehow, the conditions had become even better.
The wind had almost completely disappeared, and the water stretched ahead of us like glass.
There was time for one last run.
The Axopar 38 powered across the bay while a Fliteboard carved alongside it, boat and board moving together across barely disturbed water.
It was one of those moments you couldn’t have planned.
And a fitting end to a day that captured exactly what adventure boating can look like.
