Designed from the Waterline Up: The Axopar 38 Hull Design and Performance
At the heart of the Axopar 38 Cross Top is a hull developed by renowned naval architect Jarkko Jämsén, whose design philosophy has shaped every Axopar since the beginning. Rather than designing around layouts or styling trends, Axopar starts at the waterline, prioritising balance, hydrodynamics, efficiency and real-world offshore performance.
The Axopar 38 hull has been engineered around controlled balance, reduced tipping moments, improved stability at rest and underway, and refined spray dispersion when conditions become more demanding. Careful weight distribution works together with advanced hydrodynamic and aerodynamic design to create a 38 foot boat that feels composed and predictable, whether cruising along the coast, running offshore at speed or slowing down for a day at anchor.
While many modern adventure boats may share similar visual characteristics, Jämsén believes the difference lies in understanding the purpose behind every element of the hull.

The Axopar 38 hull is approximately 25 percent lighter than many competitors in its class, helping improve efficiency, responsiveness and seakeeping without sacrificing structural integrity. The distinctive forward-tilting wraparound windscreen helps shield the driver and passengers from wind, spray and glare while maintaining excellent visibility, creating a driving environment designed for longer passages and changing conditions without enclosing the experience.
More than two years of development and testing went into the Axopar 38 platform, extending beyond speed and handling to the refinement experienced onboard. Dedicated decibel testing, increased hull rigidity and an overbuilt stringer system help minimise unwanted flex and hull resonance, resulting in a quieter, more composed experience underway, even at higher cruising speeds.
