Electric Boats Australia and New Zealand
WHY EYACHTS BELIEVES ELECTRIC BOATS ARE THE FUTURE OF BOATING DOWNUNDER.
Eyachts have always been at the forefront of the marine industry when it comes to selecting sustainable and innovative brands to represent. Extensive research, real-world experience and global industry knowledge form the foundation of our decisions when it comes to introducing new designs. The company was one of the first to import electric boats into Australia, and now they are importing boat brands that are doing so much more than any other on the market.
As the renowned specialists in European dayboats, Eyachts has been at the forefront of introducing electric boats into Australia, bringing next-generation designs engineered in Europe to local waterways.
These early electric boats played an important role in shaping adoption, offering practical, stylish solutions that demonstrated what sustainable boating could look like on the water.
Today, electric boating has evolved rapidly, expanding beyond early concepts into a new generation of high-performance electric boats and hybrid yachts designed for real-world use.
The Next Generation of Electric Boats
Eyachts is excited to announce that Axopar, the global leader in adventure boats, has introduced fully electric boat models to its fleet with the AX/E range.
Building on decades of hull development and offshore performance, Axopar’s approach to electric boating focuses on efficiency, usability, and real-world performance. The result is an electric boat that still delivers the driving experience, speed, and capability the brand is known for.
Peter Hrones explains his excitement for this range, “Axopar has always been at the forefront of the boating industry and has become a global and national sensation. I am proud to be partnered with a brand that is listening to boaters and delivering viable electric solutions.”
Peter Hrones explains his excitement for this range, “Axopar has always been at the forefront of the boating industry and has become a global and national sensation. I am proud to be partnered with a brand that is listening to boaters and delivering viable electric solutions.”
Hrones imported his first dayboat in 2007, which was years ahead of its time with a unique and controversial look, people believed these would never sell Downunder. In 2015 Eyachts imported its first Axopar, and again many friends within the industry warned Hrones that this concept would not work. Years on there are now almost 300 Axopars in Australian & NZ waterways with huge demand and many companies trying to replicate these designs.
Having been amongst the first to trial the new Ax/e 25, Rowan Mcmahon emphasised, “when Axopar announced their partnership with Evoy I knew they would only launch a boat that lived up to the Axopar name and they have done that. The moment you push the throttles forward, you feel the torque,” he explains, comparing the sensation to driving an electric car. This instant power, combined with Axopar’s highly efficient performance hull, means that the boat “cuts through the water very nicely. We reached a top speed of 49.5kts which is incredible. I believe the Ax/e range is a real winner.”
Electric boating has rapidly evolved beyond early-stage innovation. While fully electric dayboats offer a quiet, emission-free experience ideal for harbours and short-range cruising, many boaters are now looking for solutions that combine sustainability with range and flexibility.
This is where hybrid technology comes into play.
Hybrid Boats for Real-World Cruising
Greenline Yachts represent the next step in sustainable boating, combining electric propulsion with traditional engines and integrated solar systems.
Unlike fully electric dayboats, hybrid yachts allow owners to cruise longer distances while still enjoying silent, emission-free operation when desired. Solar panels, battery storage, and efficient hull design work together to reduce fuel consumption and onboard energy use.
This approach makes hybrid boating one of the most practical and accessible pathways toward a more sustainable future on the water.
Further conveying this message, Ross Turner, Eyachts General Manager, says, “Electric boating is the future, but hybrid is what makes it possible today. Greenline has found that balance, giving owners the ability to cruise further, stay longer, and reduce their impact without changing how they use their boat.”
Electric boats in Australia are no longer a distant dream. As interest in environmentally conscious solutions continues to grow, the category has expanded rapidly, with multiple brands now contributing to the future of electric and hybrid boating.
